What is Lagos Life?

Lagos Life is a browser-based life simulation in the spirit of The Sims, set in a shared, Lagos-inspired city. You build a Sim, rent a room, work shifts, pay rent every Saturday and spend your free time at real Lagos spots — and everyone else you bump into is a real player.

It went viral within days of launch in early October 2026. There is nothing to download: it runs in Safari or Chrome on a phone or computer, which is a big part of why it spread so fast across Nigerian X, WhatsApp and Instagram.

Why it's blowing up

How to play Lagos Life

  1. Open the game in a real browser

    Go to lagoslife.app in Safari or Chrome. If you tapped a link inside Instagram, X or WhatsApp, use the menu to 'Open in browser' first — in-app browsers can block the login.

  2. Create a free account

    Choose a username and a password of at least 6 characters and confirm you are 18 or older. Add an email address: without one, a forgotten password cannot be reset.

  3. Design your Sim

    Pick a look, two personality traits and a lifetime dream such as reaching the top of a career or building a ₦1,000,000 net worth.

  4. Take the birth lottery

    The game decides — once per account — whether you start as a Nepo Baby with family money or a LAPO Baby with a small loan to repay. You cannot reroll it.

  5. Choose where to live

    LAPO Babies pick a cheap room in Mushin, a self-contain in Yaba, or start as a UNILAG student in a hall of residence. Rent is deducted every Saturday.

  6. Get a job and show up

    Apply for a career on your in-game phone, then go to work on time for every shift. Your performance, pay and promotions depend on it.

Beginner tips

  • Keep your Sim's needs topped up — hunger, energy, hygiene, bladder, fun and social. Low needs drag down your mood and your work.
  • Always keep enough for Saturday rent. Unpaid rent turns into debt, and falling more than two weeks behind outside Mushin gets you sent back there.
  • Walking is free but tiring; keke and danfo are the cheapest paid rides, okada is faster, cabs are the comfortable (expensive) option.
  • Add the site to your phone's home screen so it opens full screen like an app.
  • Only use lagoslife.app (or the original lagoslife.eliysites.com). There is no official App Store or Google Play app — treat any download claiming to be Lagos Life with suspicion.
